At Peace is a fourth place---an intentional space for unity and reflection---symbolized by the unified peace sign and the Sankofa bird. Rooted in the practice of thoughtfully looking back, in order to build for the future, At Peace is dedicated to connecting and engaging in meaningful dialogue to drive action. It is where rigor meets nectar, and where individuals and institutions can pause, reflect, and realign with purpose and intentionality.

S. Divine Sankofa, PhD. holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Howard University. He is a scholar–practitioner whose work centers identity development, belonging, teacher development, and social movements, with an emphasis on affirming frameworks across P–20 education and organizational contexts. Through At Peace, Dr. Sankofa creates spaces that support reflection, strategy, and thoughtful design aligned with this work.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Sankofa has spent the majority of his career as an educator and leader in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. He currently serves as a high school administrator leading a diverse high school community of approximately 1,400 students in Baltimore, Maryland, and as a college faculty member in DC.

Support schools, colleges, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals on identity development & belonging, culture & climate, and Black & Brown male student achievement. Advisory is also reserved for filmmakers, scholars, and creative teams on Affirming Black-Centered Movements, with particular expertise in Hip Hop’s religious socio-cultural history, as shaped by the Five Percent Nation of Gods and Earths.

Workshops, retreats, keynotes, and facilitated conversations focused on Black and Brown male teachers, identity development, belonging, teacher development, college access initiatives---including college tours and dual enrollment.

Research partnerships, writing, and scholarly collaboration examining sense of belonging in higher education; high school leadership, identity development; Black and Brown male student achievement; Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); knowledge of self, place theory; nutritional equity and nourishment in educational settings; Affirming Black-Centered Movements in relation to higher education; hip-hop–informed scholarship; and carceral education.
